2007 - Born 1944 in New York City. Lived on a farm near Columbus, IN from 1947 to 1951. Lived in Roseville, then Rocklin, CA, from 1951 to 1962. Entered the Navy in 1962 after high school. Attended the University of Missouri but did not graduate. Worked for General Motors for 33 years and am now retired.
Began writing in the 7th grade. My first two stories were: a western set during the Civil War and a SciFi set in the reign of Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses II. I wrote short stories during high school that appeared in the school magazine but began a serious effort at writing in late 1967 after reading a really bad book. My first professional work sold was пїЅSong From A Forgotten Hill,пїЅ to Worlds of Tomorrow, which folded before the story could be published. пїЅSilverheelsпїЅ in Witchcraft & Sorcery appeared first. I am known for my Black Company series, which has been very good to me, staying in print, with more than a million copies sold worldwide, in more than a dozen languages legally, and several more pirated. In addition, I have written another 40 or so books, most of which do better in Russia, Poland, and France than in TV, gaming, and Internet distracted America.
My proudest achievements, however, are three marvelous sons, although my collaborator, Carol, beloved wife of 35+ years, deserves most of the credit. Number one son is a career Army officer and has presented us with three wonderful granddaughters. Number two son is an architect with HOK, the sports venue people, and Number three son is still in college, wildly talented, and majoring in music.

2008 - When I did all my traveling, I spent a lot of time in Japan and the Far East with my work, and I did like the place, but found it a little expensive at times. In my EARLY days (60's and 70's) it was sooo inexpensive that I got spoiled. I also spent 3 months in Nagasaki while the ship was dry docked, and that was very interesting. Most of my recent trips have been golf excursions with between 8 and 20 of my golfing buddies. 2012 - I'm very much enjoying my retirement years. My time is filled with activities relating to fiber—such as spinning, dyeing, knitting, rug hooking, etc—and I belong to a fiber guild and fiber groups in the Placerville area, as well as a rug hooking guild and rug hooking groups in the Sacramento area. While I love working with fibers, I'm an adult learner taking private piano lessons in the Rocklin area. Practicing piano lessons is an ongoing learning experience and quite fun; what a difference it has made in how I hear and feel music. It's also led me to devoting a little bit of time to enjoy entertainment by local Jazz groups. Then, there are the weekly oil painting classes and now I'm dabbling in a couple other "artistic" areas. And what else do I do when I'm not immersed in paints and fibers, etc., I also enjoy attending live theatre—I love musicals and mysteries.
At home, I relax with my two Dachshunds, two parakeets and one cockatiel—that is, unless I need to attend to never-ending yard duties. My last vacation trip was to Ireland—the south and west parts. Four of us (former co-workers) had a super time; driving some of the narrow roads was kind of "hairy"—glad I didn't volunteer to drive!

Reentered Army National Guard and spent another six years there as Cook. His specialty was pastries. His most memorable times there was Serving under Mess Sergeant George Logan the former heavy weight contender who fought Cassius Clay in Los Angeles, which he lost supposedly by TKO. The other great memory was being in the famous 7th Calvary (General Custer's Calvary). 2012 - Tim and Carolyn. Tim retired in 2000 and has enjoyed keeping the ranches running, we have the Roseville ranch where he was raised and in 2004 bought 60 acres in Susanville. In Susanville (90 minutes north of Reno) we have meadow grass which we bale mid-summer and have trucked to Roseville to feed horses boarded at the facility. He loves to weld constantly building something to make life easier. I complained my hands were not strong enough to tighten my ski boots, so he welded a tool I can carry in my ski jacket to do the trick. When hooking up my horse trailer I cannot see the bed of the truck, so he made a backup sight, now it’s a piece of cake. I just relay a problem and he solves it.

2007 - Bob and Sheila. We have a family owned business, with its beginnings in 1995. At that time, we set out in search of new property that would support our Arabian horses, as well as offer prime land for growing grapes. Our search landed us in southern El Dorado County, on 85 acres of rolling hills, ponds and fantastic views! The soil on the property is mostly decomposed granite, perfect for growing grapes at an elevation above 2000 feet. We studied the wine industry and found a niche in port wines. Only a handful of wineries specialize in port, and no one in the foothills. Therefore, we chose varieties of Portuguese port and Barberra grapes, initially planting grapes on five acres. Over the next two years we added another seven acres of grapes, and added twelve more acres in 2004. In the past five years we have one more grandson. I am still trying to build a winery.

2012 - Married Michael in 1963, moved to Long Island, NY where I had our first son Michael John the 3rd in 1964 then his sister Mary Dee in 1965. We moved back to Roseville and stayed until Mike became a Sacramento Police Officer in1967 when we moved to Sac. When our second son Edward came along, we built a house there, and I spent the next 11 years staying busy keeping up with kids school activities and worked a short time. In 1984 Mike left the Police Dept. and joined the Army as a CW3 in the Transportation field in a little place called Ft. Story Virginia. This was my first time volunteering out of my comfort zone. I've been a professional volunteer ever since for the Army. The Army Thrift Shops, the Red Cross, Officers Wives Club Board Chairmen, Army Family Team Building (a teaching course for new spouses), headed up a new spouse groups whenever Mike was given a new command. From there we were assigned to Hawaii for 5 years. I continued doing all the same things while Mike sailed his crew all over the seas. I entered West Point as member of the Class of 1966 on 2 July 1962. This was only about a month after graduation and my grandmother died the day of graduation, so I had to make an emergency trip to Chicago with my father for the funeral. By the time we returned it was almost time to fly off to New York. That is why no one saw me immediately after graduation and why I was unable to participate in any of the summer’s post graduation activities. By the time I got my first leave in June of 1963, my father had been transferred to Tennessee. I attended the Academy from June 1962 until February 1965, then went to the University of Tennessee where I graduated with a degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in late 1966. After graduation I went to work for NASA at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston. I worked there for 40 years, retiring in early 2006. Despite the fact that that my active service was limited to my time at the academy (plus 3 ½ years reserve duty), I have always had a deep personal interest and affinity for the military. Indeed, working at NASA was in many ways similar to the military including the fact that I worked directly with many active duty and former military personnel. Consequently my interest in the military and military matters remains, and I definitely support our current military, our veterans, and various veterans groups.

I have three sons, ages 45, 35, and 31 years old. I have four grandchildren ages 22, 18, 7 and 1 пїЅ months old. I have been fortunate to live in Oxford, England for 3 years. I have also lived on the east coast of Australia for two years . My middle son invited me to go to Sin Zen, China for a week in February of 2005. IпїЅm grateful I had the opportunity to experience so many cultures, and make good friends. I was an Equestrian, and had horses for 20 years. After the horses, I had mules for 4 years. I had the chance to learn two types of riding, and do many wonderful things with my equine friends. One time I saw a cougar cross a pathway in front of me while riding my mule. I saw beauty in all the off-the-beaten-pathways. Seeing so many examples of GodпїЅs work has given me a spiritual sense I truly appreciate. I am retired and loving life. I thank God for my good health. My fiance and I own a home way out on the west side of Tucson. I enjoy working in the yard, and had a vegetable garden. (That was a learning experience especially since not one thing produced). I enjoy early morning walks with my dog, Mr. Paws. It is fun, and an adventure to find different places to walk him.

MAR 2008 - I married and moved to Colorado in the early 70's. I have a daughter Holly and a son Scott. Between the two kids I have 6 grandchildren, all of them close by us and thoroughly enjoyed. My career was being a Cosmetologist which I quit in 1986. I have had my hand in several small business ventures and enjoyed it all. My husband Wayne and I have been married 3 1/2 years now, are both retired, and we enjoy traveling and family. We have our hands in my daughters non-profit called Africa Bags. They have gone into Africa and are teaching villagers how to make canvas grocery bags to replace the plastic ones that are polluting the world. The villagers are earning a living for the first time and it helps them have an income and care for the many orphans who have lost their families. They import the bags back here and are finding outlets to sell them. The web site for it is Africa Bags We would love to have you go to the site and check it out. We will be going to Africa for the dedication of a Community Center where they can gather for all their functions the end of summer.

I am still working in the CPA practice with 2 of our daughters, Anna is a CPA with a great practice and Dona is studying for the CPA exam. We have 9 to 12 employees depending on the season. Gina our oldest daughter is in Real Estate.

Since the last divorce, I have started a singles group for 50's and over and it has exploded on me and continues to grow. I didn't realize that there were that many people in need of friends who are singles and over 50.
I am now retired from the State of California after 28 years. I retired from Food and Agriculture where I was in Statistics. I loved the job but, retired because of long time back injury.
